Pink Peppertree
Traditionally, Pink Peppertree from S. America has been used as a cleansing herb for healing and in ceremony. It is mentally stimulating and helps with alertness and stamina. Emotionally it is protective and energizing. A good aromatic choice for when focused, direct action is required.
There has been some interesting new studies coming out of Brazil demonstrating the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of Schinus molle L. (the Pink Peppertree here) and its effectiveness against some pretty serious and nasty pathogens. Makes the belief for its “cleansing” abilities in folk medicine pretty reliable and substantiated.
You can use the Pink Peppertree culinarily as well like you would Black Pepper. It’s a bit more pungent but nice. You can also use it like you would Black Pepper in muscle rubs of course. Good analgesic, anti spasmodic and anti inflammatory properties without much heat.
For perfumes~ Spicy, woody, warm and peppery. Love it with Rose! Smells a bit like carnation blended together.
