Lavender ~Bulgaria

Over the past 10 years Bulgaria has snatched the crown from France over their Lavender production. Bulgaria’s cultivation of Lavender, in the heart of the famed Valley of Roses, dates back to the beginning of the 20th Century where production of the oil has gone through highs and lows on the world market. Most being of inferior quality compared to French Lavender due to climate, growing conditions and expertise, we have never really bothered with it until now. Though my nose still ultimately prefers Fine French Lavender oil, this recent Bulgarian Lavender batch is a pleasant surprise. It is truly the best you’re going to find from the region at a more economical price. The aroma is floral, honey-sweet, herbaceous, rich, full bodied and smooth. Definitely a Lavender worthy of a place in anyone’s collection.
