Nutmeg

Price range: $23.00 through $57.00

Nutmeg has a long and bloody history over centuries in the spice trade dating back over 3500 years. Great wars and feuds were fought over the trade and monopolization of Nutmeg from the Banda Islands where the Dutch Spice Trading Company in the early 17th century eventually took control by force through genocide of the Banda Archipelago Civilization. Then later, through the temporary British takeover from the Dutch, Nutmeg along with its soil, was brought to other parts of the British colonized world and propagated for trade elsewhere. Alas, some things sadly never change in the tyrannical world of economics and exploitation😞. We do all surely love our Nutmeg. At least we’re not killing for it anymore! 😊

Arctander:  Nutmeg Oil is a pale yellow or almost water-white mobile oil of a light, fresh, warm-spicy and aromatic odor, a distinctly terpeney topnote and a rich, sweet-spicy body note. The undertone and dry out is somewhat woody but remains warm and sweet in good oil. There is some similarity to the odor of sweet marjoram oil.

A really lovely addition in small amounts to many different types of natural perfumes to add a bit of sweet-spicy warmth and depth without being too over-powering. A good middle man that dances well with others. I personally like it paired with Vetivert, Cedar-wood, Patchouli, Peru Balsam and Arabian Jasmine. Blends well with florals and woods. It also finds its way into my kitchen on occasion too! 😉 A versatile and comforting aroma.
