Ghandi Root
This wonderful essential oil is fairly new to the western world, but has been used for thousands of years in both India and China. It is known for its deep, rich, calming aroma and for its abundant health properties. The oil has a woody, spicy, balsamic fragrance with a subtle floral undertone that is widely used in the east for incense making. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the plant name qian nian jian, means ‘thousand years of health” where it is primarily employed over liver and kidney meridians respectively. It is commonly used for immune support for treating colds, infections, injury, rheumatism & arthritis, skin problems, sleep disorders, ringworm, yeast infections, depression, muscle aches & pains and emotional stress. On a psycho-spiritual level, the essential oil is considered calming, antidepressant and balancing to the emotions. I’m curious to see how Gandhi’s fragrance evolves over time with a few perfume base notes I’ve been playing with him in!
