Angelica Root Co2

Angelica archangelica root is closely related to the Dong Quai (Angelica senensis) that is used in TCM but it is NOT Dong Quai. Nor do we use it the same as in aroma medicine. There are around 45 different species of Angelica which all have similarities yet are composed chemically different. So consequently, we use them differently. Thank you. This is a question I get asked all the time. Is Dong Quai and Angelica the same thing? No. Well…sort of.

Angelica archangelica is used primarily to help eliminate toxins, purify the blood and lymph, stimulate the glandular system and strengthen the spirit. According to aroma medicine, Angelica root oil has a strong association with the nervous system and metabolic limbic system. It is strengthening to the inner organs with a close affinity  to the digestive tract and spleen. It has been employed to help treat anorexia, stomach ulcers, anxiety, alcoholism and nervous agitation. 

Now for the perfumer, Angelica is an animal! She is super bold and sexy. She is what we use to dance with Jasmine and bring her down to earth while keeping her exalted in heaven. Or when we need to add a little animal pungency and musk to that dirty sweet tobacco. For the perfumer, Angelica cannot be under-estimated for her power and glory. A word of advice and caution; use her wisely and with respect. She can ruin you or make you! Water and air are her friends.
