Valerian

Powerful! This oil is recommended for the experienced user. The essential oil novice may be overwhelmed by its permeating, pungent odour. Historically, Valerian has been used to promote sleep, reduce anxiety, alleviate nervousness, to ward off depression, to help with stomach cramping and in mitigating migraine headaches since ancient times. Today it is primarily recognized as a sleep aid and to help ameliorate anxiety. The scent is earthy, musky, cheesy, animalistic, pungent and very tenacious. A bit like a mixture of smelly feet, sour mash, animal barn and over ripe fruit. A hit with my cat Freddie! True Valerian essential oil is a rare must have for those plagued with sleeplessness and anxiety. And of course, a marvellous addition for the brave perfumer who’s looking for a unique animalistic something to give their special creation more depth and intrigue. Did I say this oil is powerful and tenaciously odorific? Beware! A little goes a long way. But like my cat Freddie, I happen to be quite fond of Valerian’s smelly scent. 🙂
