Tangerine

Tangerines are a Mandarin hybrid that share similarities with Oranges but are sweeter and more robust. They are said to have originated in Japan, China and perhaps northeast India. History suggests Tangerine’s medicinal and culinary uses go back some 3,000 years in Japan. From India they are said to have travelled the Silk Road through to North Africa where they ended up in Tangiers, Morocco where their name Tangerine originates. Tangerine essential oil reminds me of Red Mandarin, Blood Orange and Sweet Orange all rolled up in one with a little kick. Fabulous with Vetivert, Patchouli, Frankincense and a bit of Jasmine. Or try your hand at making a sensuous love butter body dessert with Tangerine, Cocoa, Rose oil, Cardamom and maybe a wee spare hint of Cinnamon to kick things up a notch! I personally like to make a fresh whipped coconut oil body butter with Tangerine and Katrafay. Especially nice after a good work out massaged all over the body. Makes a gorgeous breast massage treat too I think. Thinking of adding a few drops Fenugreek into the mix next time to help plump things up! The great properties of Tangerine essential oil with its relative ease of use, bright, up-lifting aroma and its economical low cost leaves very little not to love about this sparkling gem of an oil.
