Balm Of Gilead

$22.00

Poplar bud  (Populus balsamifera)  aka Balm of Gilead extracts possess great potential for various therapeutical applications. They display outstanding anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties due primarily to their abundance of carotenoids, phospholipids and the phenolic salicylates of populin and salicin they contain.

The antioxidant and healing properties of propolis, a hive product collected by honey bees are mainly from the resins and salicylates of the poplar bud exudates collected in early spring. Propolis has a long and revered healing tradition from the ancient Greeks through the present. Poplar bud extracts can be used wherever the therapeutic application of propolis is recommended.

Our outstanding “Balm Of Gilead” is quite literally a cold sticky finger labour of love which takes many months of preparation. For those of you that are familiar, I use the Ryan Drum method of careful selection and the slow cracking of the medicine over time at specific temperatures then allowing it to age over several months. Upon preparation, I add an extra special touch to each jar of the very rare and costly Poplar Bud essential oil. The result is a spectacular medicine with a wonderful deep resinous aroma.

Use: Massage (especially deep tissue), anti aging formulas, coughs, burns, hemorrhoids, arthritis & rheumatism, psoriasis & much more.

Because of the high anti-oxidant content, Poplar bud preparations tend to have a very long shelf life. Some preparations have been known to keep for a decade or more!

Use caution if you have sensitivity to aspirin and aspirin products. Poplar buds contain phenolic glycosides, populin and salicin, both containing salicylates.
